An instrument number is a unique
identification number given to a document at the time of recording.
What is book and page?
The book and page numbers are unique
identification numbers given to a document at the time of recording.
What is recording date?
The recording date is the date the document
was recorded by County Clerk’s Office.
What is basic search?
A basic search is a quick way to view a
document when the instrument number or book and page is already known. You can
also search for documents recorded on a certain date.
How to use basic search

Entering the instrument number or book and
page will retrieve a specific document. Entering the date will retrieve all
deeds and mortgages recorded on that date.
What is advanced search? When
should user use it?
An advanced search should be used when you
do not know the instrument number, book and page or date of recording. Entering
a name and municipality (or countywide) will retrieve all documents recorded
with that name. When the index appears, scroll to the record you wish to view.
How to view the image?
When the index appears, click on “VIEW” and
the image will appear.

What do you mean by
seller\lender?
The seller is the grantor on the deed. The
lender is the mortgagee on the mortgage.
What do you mean by
buyer\borrower?
The buyer is the grantee on the deed and
the borrower is the mortgagor on the mortgage.
Can we do title searches here?
Absolutely not. Our Disclaimer is very
clear. Title searches must be performed in the Office of the County Clerk where
all recorded documents are available.
How do I find my municipality?
On the Advanced Search Screen, use the
drop-down box (Town Name) to select the correct town. If you do not know the
town, choose countywide at the very bottom of the list.
Can I save the Image?
No. The image may be printed, but not
saved.
